Winneshiek County Development and Tourism (WCDT) works in collaboration with area partners to seek out and write grants to help support Winneshiek County projects. They have been awarded $3,546,000 in grants just since September of 2021! Some of those projects include:
Water Quality Initiative Project $97,000 from Iowa Dept. of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to help manage and reduce flooding in Winn. County.
Water Infrastructure Fund $499,000 from Iowa Finance Authority
to efficiently improve surface and ground water quality, flood resiliency, and hydrologic function in the Dry Run Watershed, Upper Iowa Rive, and City of Decorah.
Water Infrastructure Fund $500,000 from Iowa Finance Authority for improvements to the diversion channel above the cut and for two oxbows on Dry Run Creek and an infiltration basin in Phelps Park.
IRP and DECO each received $500,000 from the Manufacturing 4.0 Grant program.
Sunflower Childcare/Discovery Center $930,000 from “Investing in Iowa’s Child Care/Child Care Challenge program, to help fund specific equipment and construction of the new Sunflower Child Development Center.
Iowa Rural Innovation $20,000 to Sunflower Childcare/Discovery Center for the new innovative model combining child care and tourism.
CAT Grant for $500,000 to Sunflower Discovery Center, this was the highest award and one of the highest ‘percentage of project’ awarded by CAT board.
National Trust grant for $50,000 for a multi-community/site Native American Tourism project with sites in Bluffton, Kendallville, Decorah, Lake Meyer, and Fort Atkinson in Winn. County.
