Why We Pledge to the Principals of IRVM
Winneshiek County is known locally and throughout the Midwest as an ecological and natural resources gem due to its land forms and waters. Our county has been known as a hub for eco-tourism / outdoor recreation and has become a hometown to many just for this reasoning. Our county roadside corridors are gateways to our communities and pictorial marketing devices that promotes our natural resources heritage.
Winneshiek County’s vegetation management vision is congruent with our IRVM plan and must meet certain safety requirements before aesthetic, recreational, or economic considerations can be addressed. These set IRVM goals are to attempt to maintain clear ROW, meet minimal sight distance requirements and provide for erosion control because of ROW construction or maintenance.
