Weekly Joint Planning Team Vaccine update:
WE WANT YOU TO KNOW!!
The FDA and CDC have “paused” the release of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine. Six cases of a rare, but severe type of blood clot has been reported in women ranging in age between 18-48 years old. The symptoms in these cases presented 6-13 days after the vaccine administration. 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered to date.
The Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are NOT affected by this J&J vaccine pause.
COVID-19 vaccine side effects are extremely rare.
Patients who have received the J&J vaccine are considered very low risk one month after receiving the J&J vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccines are important and the best way to beat COVID-19. The members of the Winneshiek County COVID-19 Joint Planning Team strongly encourage everyone to receive a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.
