Changes with the Board of Supervisors

With the recent retirement of Board chair District 2 Supervisor, Floyd Ashbacher, many changes have taken effect. Gary Rustad was named to fill Ashbacher’s unfilled term. Supervisor Dan Langreck (District 4) was voted as the new chair and Supervisor Shirley Vermace (District 3) was nominated Vice Chair.

We wish Floyd well in his retirement and thank him for his years of service.

Emergency Notifications (Alert Iowa) Transitioned to Smart911 App

On July 1, 2021, Winneshiek County transitioned away from WENS for our emergency notifications (Alert Iowa) and moving to a new vendor called RAVE. RAVE utilizes an app called Smart911. This Smart911 app, when enabled will allow you to receive emergency notifications anywhere in the state of Iowa. The Smart911 app also provides several voluntary sections the end users can choose to fill out. If you so choose, you can add information into the app such as mobility impairment, oxygen dependency, insulin dependency, number and kind of pets, etc.

When you enter the system you will be able to choose which alerts you would like to receive.

Please register today. With the new system, you do not have to create a new account for each person living in your household. You can simply add them to your profile if you so choose.
