Press Release

Winneshiek County Auditor Benjamin Steines and Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate are hosting a Voter Ready Round Table Discussion with local election stakeholders.

You are welcome to join us for this one-hour meeting.  Tuesday, August 7th, from 9:00am – 10:00am in the Courthouse Annex Building.

This is an opportunity for local organizations in our county to come together to learn about the new voter integrity election laws.

It is not a forum or debate on the law.  It’s not a rally expressing a political agenda or position on the law.  Rather, during the discussion we envision a few minutes explaining the law, asking participants how best to reach their local members, and then inviting them to use our tool kit to help educate their members.

We will ask the media to attend and ask them to help use the tool kit to inform their readers and listeners.

We believe that Iowans will find the new law easy to understand and easy to follow.  Our office is committed to ensuring that Iowa voters understand voting requirements and continue to participate in Iowa elections, hopefully at rates even higher than usual.

We want to get correct voting information into the hands of every voter.  We all have a vested interest in making sure information is clear, accurate, and accessible.

This format allows us to meet with election stakeholders at the local level, answer questions and provide them with a tool kit that they can then use to educate their constituents at the local level.
